Just south of Brickell lies a one of a kind neighborhood called Coconut Grove. “The Grove” as locals would say it has a vibrant history much like the inhabitants that have lived here over the years. It all started with the opening of the Cape Florida Lighthouse in 1825 and has captured many visitors until having its permanent residents in the 1890’s. The Barnacle House built in 1891 takes us back to the Era of the Bay and is located at the end of Commodore Plaza as a Historic State Park. Today Coconut Grove is a combination of different cultures and backgrounds much like in its past. There are different festivals, the King Mango Strut Parade, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival and The Great Taste of the Grove Food & Wine Festival and the Goombay Festival.
